NEW DELHI: A
Vistara flight
from Paris with 306 people on board received a
bomb scare
that had the pilots carry out an
emergency landing
at Mumbai airport on Sunday. This was the third bomb scare in the country in less than a week and the second such incident in Mumbai in two days.
A handwritten note on an airsickness bag threatening a bomb was reported by Vistara. A full-scale emergency was declared at 10.08am and the flight landed safely at 10.19am.
Fire tenders and ambulances were on standby when the Boeing 787 aircraft landed. It was taken to an isolated bay for security check. No bomb was found.
“We confirm that a
security concern
has been noted by our staff while onboard
Vistara
flight UK024 operating from Paris to Mumbai,” said a Vistara spokesperson. “Following protocol, we immediately informed relevant authorities. The flight landed at Mumbai airport and we are fully cooperating with security agencies for all mandatory checks.”
On Saturday, an
IndiGo flight
from Chennai to Mumbai received a
bomb threat
, which led to an emergency landing in Mumbai. The flight left Chennai around 6.50am and was en route when the bomb alert was received. “An unclaimed remote was found on board,” said a source.
On May 28, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi with 176 passengers on board received a bomb threat, following which the pilots ordered an emergency evacuation.
