NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (

ED

) has issued a fresh summon to Trinamool Congress leader

Mahua Moitra

, for questioning in a case related to the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The scheduled inquiry is set to take place on

March 11

, as per the official sources.
According to official sources, the 49-year-old politician had requested a few weeks' time to participate in the investigation and conveyed her inability to depose last month.

The federal probe agency wants to question the former Lok Sabha MP and record her statement under the provisions of the FEMA once she deposes.

The case under scrutiny involves transactions linked to a non-resident external (NRE) account, along with several other foreign remittances and fund transfers, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Apart from the ED, Moitra is also facing a preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) following allegations raised by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. The accusations involve Moitra purportedly targeting the Adani group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, allegedly in exchange for gifts. Additionally, she has been accused of compromising national security for monetary gains.
Mahua Moitra has consistently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that she is being targeted due to her scrutiny of the Adani group's dealings.
