Excitement is building as the makers of '
Dune: Prophecy
' have just released the first
teaser
trailer for the much-anticipated
prequel series
. Set to debut on
HBO Max
this fall, the six-episode series does not yet have an official premiere date.
Originally commissioned in 2019 under the title 'Dune: The Sisterhood', the series draws inspiration from the novel 'Sisterhood of Dune' by Brian Herbert and Kevin J.
Anderson. The story is set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, focusing on two Harkonnen sisters who fight against forces threatening humanity's future. These sisters go on to establish the
Bene Gesserit
, a powerful and influential group within the Dune universe.
The teaser gives a glimpse of the early days of the Bene Gesserit, showing their increasing influence across the Imperium.

There have been several changes in showrunners and a creative reset in 2023. Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Diane Ademu-John, who co-developed the series, also serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster has directed multiple episodes, including the first, and is an executive producer. Other executive producers include Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, Jon Spaihts, and Brian Herbert. Representing the Frank Herbert estate, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert are also executive producers, with Anderson as co-producer. The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the Dune film franchise.
