from the
Sikkim Krantikari Morcha
won from the Djongu assembly constituency with a vote margin of 5007 in Sikkim.
The Djongu (BL) constituency, situated in Sikkim's North district, is one of the 32 seats comprising the Sikkim assembly. Classified as a reserved category seat, it held 9,595 eligible voters as of the 2019 election.
The Lok Sabha elections for Djongu constituency took place on April 19 in the first phase of voting.
Notable candidates for the Djongu constituency include Jorbu Tshering Lepcha of Citizen Action Party-Sikkim, BJP’s Penzong Lepcha and
SKM
’s Pintso Namgyal Lepcha.
In the preceding 2019 Sikkim assembly elections, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, representing the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), emerged victorious in the Djongu (BL) constituency with 5,613 votes. Chungkipu Lepcha, the candidate from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), secured the runner-up position with 2,612 votes.
During the 2014 elections, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha,SDF’s candidate, vanquished the opposition after garnering 4,618 votes. Dawa Tshering Lepcha of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) became the runner up after receiving 2,443 votes.
