Director
Priyadarshan
has undertaken a journey of documenting the rich history of the
Ram temple
in Ayodhya through a compelling docu-series. Following the momentous Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22, Priyadarshan aims to shed light on the temple's intricate journey spanning 500 years.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Priyadarshan shared insights into the documentary's genesis, in a statement, revealing that he was approached by the temple authorities to helm the project.
Intrigued by the script's depth and historical significance, Priyadarshan eagerly accepted the challenge to narrate the saga of Lord Ram's return to his birthplace. "I found the script very interesting. It will show the history of the last 500 years and the struggle for the return of Lord Ram to his birthplace. It was more difficult than making a film. There were some sensitive things that we did not touch. Also, we had to tell the history. So this was the biggest challenge for me," the filmmaker stated.
The docu-series, slated to be broadcasted on Doordarshan, delves into the trials and triumphs endured over centuries in the quest to establish the Ram temple. Priyadarshan embarked on a rigorous 60-day shooting schedule commencing in November 2023, conducting interviews with key figures such as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath
. In a bid to recreate historical moments, Priyadarshan has incorporated dramatic scenes into the documentary series. Meanwhile, Priyadarshan’s previous outing was with the Malayalam thriller
