Actress
Jyotika
made her comeback to the Bollywood industry after more than twenty years with the
psychological horror thriller
‘
Shaitaan
’ alongside
Ajay Devgn
and R Madhavan. The actress is currently awaiting the release of her next, ‘
Srikanth
’ with Rajkummar Rao, which will be released in theaters on May 10.
The director of this film has now revealed that Jyotika was not ready to play this character initially, and that it was her husband, actor
Suriya
, who convinced her to be in this film.
In a recent interview with News18, director
Tushar Hiranandani
said that he had watched a lot of Tamil films of Jyotika and thought she is a great actor. Her first film, ‘Doli Saja Ke Rakhna,’ is a Hindi movie because she handled the language as she’s a Punjabi. But she initially rejected the film, ‘Srikanth,’ when he approached her.
Rajkummar Rao EXCLUSIVE on being Srikanth Bolla: I wasn't sure, I pushed myself for this challenging role
Surprisingly, the next day, she called the director and said that she wants to do the film. Suriya read the script and told her that she cannot miss out on it. Both Suriya sir and Jyotika called him home and confirmed doing the role.
The director further added that ‘Srikanth’ was her Hindi comeback film, but she later shot for ‘Shaitaan,’ which is out prior to his film. He wanted a fresh face for the teacher’s role because Rajkummar Rao had worked with almost every actress.
