The Deoria parliamentary constituency, primarily rural, comprises 81 per cent general category, 15 percent Scheduled Castes, and 11.6 per cent Muslims.
It encompasses five assembly segments. Although historically Congress held sway, its dominance diminished after 1991, facing strong competition from BJP, SP, and BSP.

The election for Deoria constituency are set to take place in the seventh phase of voting on June 1. The Election Commission of India (ECI) revealed the timetable for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on March 16. The results for the elections will be declared on June 4. The electorate in 2024 displayed heightened enthusiasm to assert the strength of their vote. Notable candidates for the Deoria Lok Sabha Constituency in 2024 include Sandesh from the Bahujan Samaj Party, Shashank Mani from the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Akhilesh Pratap Singh from the Indian National Congress.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Deoria saw a fiercely contested battle, with a voter turnout of 57.60 per cent. BJP candidate Ramapati Ram Tripathi emerged victorious with a significant margin, securing 5,80,644 votes, defeating Binod Kumar Jaiswal of the BSP, who garnered 3,30,713 votes. Ramapati Ram Tripathi's victory margin was an impressive 2,49,931 votes.
In the 2014 election, Kalraj Mishra of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 51.1 per cent of the vote share, equivalent to 4,96,500 votes. He defeated Niyaz Ahmad of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who garnered 27.3 per cent of the votes, totaling 265,386. Baleshwar Yadav from the Samajwadi Party secured the third position with 150,852 votes, constituting 15.5 per cent of the total votes. The Congress party, however, slipped to fourth place in this constituency.
