Delhi Police's viral tweet after India beats Pak: We heard two loud noises

Amid celebrations in India after Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue defeated arch-rival Pakistan in a thriller during the ongoing T20 World Cup in New York, a post on X by Delhi Police went viral for its wittiness. Within hours of tweeting, the post was liked by over 30,000 users and retweeted more than 5,500 times.

Tagging New York Police Department (NYPD), Delhi Police said that after the end of the match, they heard only two noises - "One is 'Indiaaa...India!', and another is probably of broken televisions. Can you please confirm?

The post, tweeted in the early hours of Monday (June 10), received over 5 lakh views at the time of writing the report.

The humorous tweet was met with an outpouring of laughter, with many adding to the same with memes under the comments section.

This wasn't the first tweet by Delhi Police pertaining to the clash between India and Pakistan. Ahead of the match, it took to X to extend good wishes to Team India.

"Dear NYPDnews, just to tip you off: An interesting, delightful fight is expected at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium today. Good luck to Team India," the post on the micro-blogging site read.

Indian bowlers put up a stellar performance in Team India's Group A match against Pakistan, helping the Men in Blue successfully defend 119 runs at New York's Nassau County International Cricket Stadium today. The Pakistan team scored 113/7 in 20 overs, conceding yet another defeat in front of a packed 34,000-strong crowd. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya helped India hand a defeat to Pakistan after being on the edge themselves. The two bowlers combined for five wickets, giving away only 38 runs in 8 overs.
