Delhi's Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena on Sunday reviewed the progress of the ambitious "Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan" of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The Lieutenant Governor instructed the District Magistrates to speed up the process and complete all works by August this year.

With 416 projects already underway, amounting to Rs 364.38 crore, these works are anticipated to be completed by August this year. Development projects include roads, drainage, community centres, sports complexes, dispensaries, libraries, and crematoria.

To ensure stringent monitoring and quality assurance, LG Saxena has mandated District Magistrates (DMs) to personally oversee the progress.

Out of the 416 ongoing projects, a majority are being executed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the remaining by different agencies under its supervision.

The key directives include, DMs should periodically review and conduct detailed field visits, physical verification of progress reports, e-monitoring and photographic evidence submission every fortnight and contractors to provide a 5-year warranty and staggered EMD release based on work quality.

LG Saxena emphasised the importance of dignified last rites at renovated cremation grounds, encouraging the planting of flowering trees to enhance the aesthetics.

Besides, more funding of Rs 540 crore will be allocated for dispensaries, libraries, and other essential infrastructure, after consulting the village residents.

The "Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan" was launched by Amit Shah on March 11.
