NEW YORK (PIX11) -- U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman and Westchester County Executive George Latimer, the two candidates in the Democratic primary for New York’s 16th Congressional District, faced off in a debate on PIX11 Tuesday night.
Political analyst J.C. Polanco joined PIX on Politics host Dan Mannarino and PIX11’s Grace Gomez to recap the debate.
Bowman and Latimer debated on topics, including race-related allegations, reparations, and President Joe Biden and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Despite the numerous national-level topics, Mannarino highlighted the issue that is likely to attract the most attention at the local level in the 16th Congressional District.
"I think the most important issue is the affordability crisis. That is what people are zeroed in on. While the big moments came from the larger issues like reparations, race, Israel, and Hamas, I think people are laser-focused on the real kitchen table issues that affect their wallet," said Mannarino.
