GHAZIABAD: In an
encounter
with
Ghaziabad police
, a 27-year-old
criminal
was gunned down in the Arthala area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sahibabad. The police also apprehended another accused in connection with the case.
The accused had been on the run after being involved in the robbery and murder of
Vinay Tyagi
, an employee of Tata Steel.
Tyagi's body was discovered in a drain early in the morning on May 4, following his murder by the accused during a robbery.
The police have identified the deceased accused as Daksh, who was a resident of Delhi.
According to Nimish Patil, DCP of Trans-hindon, the incident occurred around 5.00 am when police officers were conducting routine checks near Arthala. They spotted two individuals on a bike approaching at high speed and signaled them to stop, but the riders made sharp turns. The police quickly surrounded them, and the criminals began firing.
"During cross firing one of the police bullets hit Daksh and bike fell on the road. In the incident, a sub-inspector was also seriously injured and admitted to hospital for treatment," he said.
The police recovered Tyagi's phone and weapons from the possession of the accused.
