in Chidambaram Lok Sabha Constituency, Chandrahaasan from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam , Smt. Karthiyayini from Bharatiya Janata Party , Jansi Rani from Naam Tamilar Katchi and Thirumaavalavan Thol from Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi are the prominent candidates.
In the 2019 General Assembly Elections, Chidambaram witnessed a fiercely contested battle.

This constituency witnessed a 77.72% voter turnout in the year 2019. VCK candidate Thirumaavalavan Thol won the 2019 General Election with a victory margin of 3,219 votes, securing 5,00,229 votes. Thirumaavalavan Thol defeated Chandrasekar P of the AIADMK, who got 4,97,010 votes.
The Chidambaram Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled to vote on 19th April 2024, with the Election Commission announcing results on 4th June, as per their statement on March 16.
