Chhattisgarh: Two women workers charred to death in Raipur factory fire

RAIPUR

: Two women were killed in fire at a

mattress factory

in Chhattisgarh capital on Wednesday evening and their

charred bodies

were recovered from the spot.
Raipur SSP Santosh Singh told TOI that the incident took place at Shri Guru Nanak Mattress Company in Khamtarairegion of Raipur that was suddenly engulfed in fire.
There were seven workers trapped inside the premises, of whom five men somehow managed to escape but two women couldn’t be saved and they were charred to death.

The reason of incident is yet to be known, although special precautions are called for in soaring record temperatures of 46 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state.
A team of police and six fire tenders reached the spot and took control over the situation.

The two

women workers

were identified as Yamuna and Rameshwari, who were residents of Sarora village.
Those who managed to escape were given primary treatment.
Thick plummets of smoke could be seen for hours after the massive fire from distance.
No compensation was announced by authorities till filing of this report and the incident was being investigated.
The incident comes in wake of recent blast in a dynamite factory in neighbouring Bemetara district that claimed life of at least one worker while eight remain missing and six injured.
