CHENNAI: In the wake of an illegal 120x120 feet hoarding collapsing and killing 16 people in Mumbai, the
Greater Chennai Corporation
has started removing unauthorised
hoardings
in the city.
The
GCC
has removed 460 unauthorised hoardings, among which 250 have been removed along with their structures as their height was above 30 feet.
The local body has received 1,100 applications for hoardings and 40 of them have been rejected.
The civic body is yet to issue licence for the rest.
Zonal officials are also asked to remove illegal hoardings.
