Smart City Development

Limited (

IPSCDL

) on Tuesday said that the road from

Caculo Mall

to the

Tonca sewerage treatment plant

(STP) at

St Inez

will be closed until June 10.
The closure is to facilitate the ongoing

sewerage works

involving the installation of the main trunk line and manholes on the stretch.
IPSCDL had earlier stated that the cumulative target for completing all road works and making the road functional would be May 31.

The pipeline will be passing along the road as well as across the St Inez creek, further connecting to the Tonca STP.

The decision to close the road was taken in view of the 1m diameter pipe being laid.
The gaps between the drilled hole and the pipe would be filled with soil, and there is a possibility that this may lead to settlement of the road in the coming days.
“IPSCDL is committed to complete this stretch in the shortest possible time frame and is seeking cooperation from citizens at large, and residents of St Inez and Panaji in particular, to enable it to complete this last leg of its St Inez Smart Road project successfully,” the IPSCDL said.
It added that the closure of this stretch had been saved for the last leg aiming to minimise the duration of inconvenience that may arise during the execution of the work.
