KARWAR: A six-year-old boy with hearing and
speech impairment
, and at the centre of a fight between his parents, was attacked and killed by a crocodile after he was thrown into a canal in Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka late on Saturday.
His body bore signs of severe injuries and bite marks, while his right hand was partially bitten off by the reptile.
The tragedy took place in Halamadi village, about 460km from Bengaluru.
The boy's parents - Savitri, 32, and Ravi Kumar, 36 - used to have arguments over their son Vinod's hearing and speech impairment, sources said.
Police arrested Savitri on Monday on charges of murder after she allegedly cast Vinod into the canal. Police produced Savitri before a court which remanded her in judicial custody for 14 days.
