The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a consortium led by film producer
Boney Kapoor
for the construction of the initial phase of Film City near the Yamuna Expressway. Spanning 230 acres in Sector 21 and situated just 6km from the Noida International Airport, this project signifies a significant step forward for the state's film industry.
The approval, granted during a cabinet meeting, confirms the consortium's official selection for this endeavor.
Boney Kapoor was accompanied by his partners and
Janhvi Kapoor
's close friend Shikhar Pahariya at the meeting in Lucknow on Monday. Kapoor also met
Yogi Adityanath
with the proposed plan for the International Film City in Noida.
On January 30, Kapoor's consortium, Bayview Projects LLP, emerged as the highest bidder for the project, offering 18% of its revenue to the state government. The consortium includes the real estate company Bhutani Group and Noida Cyber Park as its partners. Competing for the project were three other candidates, namely T-Series and consortiums supported by actors
Akshay Kumar
and KC Bokadia.
The initial phase of the Film City project is projected to require an investment of Rs 1,510 crore. Out of the total 230 acres reserved for the project, 75 acres will be utilized for commercial development, while the remaining 155 acres will be dedicated to film-related infrastructure. Additionally, the authority has planned to construct an interchange from the Yamuna Expressway to facilitate access to the site. This interchange will enable people coming from the airport, Agra, or Delhi to reach Film City directly.
