NEW YORK (PIX11) – AMC Theatres throughout the five boroughs welcome movie lovers to celebrate Black History Month with films told through the lens of African American writers, directors and actors.
The movie theater chain will bring back seven fan-favorite films from the past year for the month of February. Tickets for each show are already available to purchase online.

Jan. 31
A biographical documentary following the life and career of Pharrell Williams as told through Lego bricks. The film was co-produced by Williams’ multimedia collective called i am OTHER.
Luther: Never Too Much
Jan. 31
A documentary on the legendary R&B musician Luther Vandross as told through his own voice in rarely seen archival footage. Viewers will also recognize some of the other iconic voices telling Vandross’ story in the film such as Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson and Roberta Flack.
The Fire Inside
Feb. 7
The inspirational true story of Claressa Shields, a high school junior from Flint, Michigan who went on to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. The film was written by Oscar-nominated Barry Jenkins who has worked on “Moonlight,” “Dear White People,” and “The Underground Railroad.”
The Forge
Feb. 7
A faith-based film about a high school graduate named Isaiah Wright who has no plans for the future. However, he’s challenged by his single Mom and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara to find his purpose in life.
Challengers
Feb. 14
This Golden Globe-nominated film stars Zendaya as a tennis star-turned-coach named Tashi and her love triangle between her ex-boyfriend Patrick and tennis star husband Art.
Rob Peace
Feb. 14
Written, directed by, and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, this film follows a man named Robert Peace who leads a dual life earning degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry while also selling marijuana to help his father who he believed was unjustly imprisoned.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die
Feb. 21
The latest installment of the fan-favorite “Bad Boys” franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
