Data put out by EC shows while BJP got the largest amount — Rs 6,061 crore or almost half the total — of contributions via
electoral bonds
, the next biggest recipient was
TMC
(Rs 1,610cr).
Congress,
BRS
,
BJD
and
DMK
followed. Parties that have been running govts in states figured higher on the list than those in opposition, one exception being JD(U), which while governing Bihar the entire time, received all of Rs 14 crore.
Congress
on Thursday said there was a discrepancy in the numbers of entries in donor and recipient files -- 18,871 against 20,421. It also asked why the data shared pertained to a period from April 2019 even though the scheme for anonymous political funding was introduced in 2017.
