BENGALURU: Karnataka BJP
criticised
Congress MP
Rahul Gandhi
on Thursday for his alleged remarks on Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who's born into a Tulu-speaking family in Mangaluru.
In a scathing social media post, BJP accused Gandhi of descending to a "new low" by disparaging Aishwarya and alleged that the
Congress
leader harbours a "dangerous and creepy obsession with successful women".
BJP criticised Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah for not speaking out against Gandhi's remarks, labelling him as silent in the face of disrespect towards a fellow Kannadiga.
The controversy erupted from Gandhi's recent comments during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in UP, where he took aim at BJP, particularly criticising the consecration event at Ram temple in Ayodhya. Gandhi claimed that the ceremony lacked representation from marginalised communities. He allegedly singled out Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
