BJD releases first list for Lok Sabha and assembly elections

NEW DELHI: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief and

Odisha CM

Naveen Patnaik announced the names of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections on Wednesday.
Lok Sabha elections
The party is fielding BJD general secretary (Organisation)

Pranab Prakash Das

from Sambalpur and

Manmath Routray

from Bhubaneswar. Routray had joined the party just hours before the announcement.

Odisha Minister Sudam Marndi will be contesting for the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat, while former Indian Hockey captain Dilip Tirkey will go head-to-head against sitting MP Jual Oram from the Sundergarh constituency.
The other candidates include Lambodar Nial from Kalahandi, Ansuman Mohanty from Kendrapara, Prajip Kumar Majhi from Nabarangpur, Kausalya Hikaka from Koraput and Ranjita Sahu from Aska.

will be contesting from Hinjili Assembly segment in Ganjam district. The party announced 72 candidates for 147 Assembly seats.
