AURANGABAD: A

constable

was killed after being run over by a

tractor

engaged in

illegal sand transportation

in Bihar's

Aurangabad district

on Sunday.
The victim, 29-year-old

Deepak Kumar

, was on duty at Musepur Khaira village within

Daudnagar police station

limits when the incident occurred around 4 am. Kumar, who hailed from Arrah in Bhojpur district, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to Aurangabad SP Swapna Gautam Meshram, "The incident took place when Kumar spotted a tractor loaded with illegally mined sand.

Kumar instructed the driver to halt the vehicle, but he refused and mowed down the constable and fled after abandoning the tractor at the scene."
Meshram stated that the tractor has been seized, and its owner has been taken into custody. She further added, "Police have identified the driver and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him." The SP emphasized that all individuals involved in the incident will be arrested soon.

This incident is reminiscent of a similar case that occurred in November 2023 in Jamui district, where a 28-year-old sub-inspector was killed, and a home guard sustained severe injuries after being hit by a tractor carrying illegally mined sand.
