Bicyclist hit and killed by FDNY fire truck: Officials

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by an FDNY vehicle in Queens Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

Officers responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident at 80th Street and Juniper Boulevard at around 4:00 p.m. Police say an FDNY fire truck was traveling northbound on 80th Street and was making a turn on Juniper Boulevard when it collided with a bicycle.

Emergency medical services responded and pronounced the male bicyclist dead at the scene.

An NYPD investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.

PIX11 News reached out to the FDNY, a spokesperson said firefighters were responding to a church fire when the accident occured.
