Beth Mooney to lead Gujarat Giants in WPL season 2

Beth Mooney

has been appointed as the captain of

Gujarat Giants

for the upcoming

Women's Premier League

, commencing on February 23, the franchise confirmed on Wednesday.
Mooney, who was also named captain for the inaugural season, unfortunately suffered an injury after the first game and was unable to continue participating in the competition.

During her absence, India all-rounder

Sneh Rana

took charge of leading the side.
In the announcement for the upcoming season, Rana has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team, reflecting her continued role within the leadership group.

Gujarat Giants, who finished at the bottom of the table in the previous season's five-team competition in 2023, expressed confidence in the leadership duo of Mooney and Rana.
"They (Mooney and Rana) will be part of the leadership group with head coach Michael Klinger, mentor and advisor

Mithali Raj

, and assistant coach Nooshin Al Khadee," the team stated in a press release.

The franchise's campaign in the upcoming season will kick off against Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru on February 25, marking the beginning of their quest for improved performance and success in the tournament.
