KOLKATA: One of the first teacher job aspirants who had moved

Calcutta high court

for a stay on alleged scam-tainted recruitments of 2016 will contest the

LS polls

on an

ISF ticket

from Bengal's

Tamluk

against the judge who heard the case.
Mahiuddin Ahmed

alias Mahi had moved the erstwhile bench of Justice Abhijit Ganguly, leading to the first stay in the case.

Ganguly is now BJP's Tamluk candidate.
Asked why he entered the fray, Murshidabad native Mahi said: "I decided to join politics to raise issues of the deprived." On whether ISF's decision to field him against the former judge was a well thought-out move, Mahi offered a cryptic response: "Our recruitment is currently stuck due to legal hurdles. Many have used us."
Mahi rejected suggestions that his presence would benefit BJP's Ganguly. "I solely represent job aspirants and the unemployed in Bengal, without any other connections or equations with anyone," said Mahi, who was among four ISF candidates announced on Saturday. Earlier, he had launched an agitation against the recruitment scam.
TMC has fielded IT cell head Debangshu Bhattacharya in Tamluk, while Left has picked Sayan Bandyopadhyay.
