Wednesday became the first
foreign leaders
to confirm participation in PM Modi’s swearing-in expected to take place on Saturday.
The Lankan govt said Wickremesinghe was invited by Modi himself when the former called to congratulate him. The Lankan President accepted the invitation.
Hasina too spoke to the PM, conveying her greetings for the NDA’s “resounding” victory.
She too accepted Modi’s invitation. Hasina is scheduled to visit India again later this month for a bilateral meeting. Leaders of Bhutan, Mauritius and Nepal, who too dialled the Indian PM, are also expected to attend. Efforts are underway to invite more leaders from the neighbourhood and extended neighbourhood.
