NEW DELHI: Having lost four out of their five matches so far in the

IPL 2024

,

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

's fortune continues to remain the same as the franchise despite boasting of big names always failing to live up to the billing.
Former India star off spinner

Harbhajan Singh

expressed his belief that the team lacks the necessary drive and suggested reinstating

Virat Kohli

as the captain of RCB, replacing Faf du Plessis.

Harbhajan further said that RCB's lineup is constrained by the inclusion of Faf in the playing XI, resulting in Will Jacks being sidelined on the bench. However, Jacks has been included for the match against Mumbai Indians.
"I am saying make Virat Kohli the captain. Atleast there will be fight. Virat Kohli makes his players fight. Faf du Plessis, you have to play him. People are sitting out because of him. One player, who makes hundreds in every league is sitting out but he has come here he is sitting outside. He is sitting out because Faf is playing. Make Virat Kohli captain. This team will fight and then win," Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

With Virat Kohli doing the heavy lifting so far with 319 runs at 106.33, the others have fared miserably in their bid to support the former RCB skipper.
Kohli has been RCB's longest-serving captain, leading them continuously from 2013 to 2021. Initially serving as vice-captain to Daniel Vettori until the 2012 campaign, Kohli took over as captain in 2013. The 35-year-old once again assumed leadership in the 2023 season when Faf was injured, featuring as an impact substitute in three matches.
Kohli has captained RCB in 143 matches, securing victory in 66 and facing defeat in 70. Faf assumed the captaincy in the 2022 season after Kohli stepped down following the 2021 IPL. To date, Faf has led RCB in 32 matches, achieving 15 wins while enduring 17 losses.
