VIJAYAWADA: Asserting that

YSRCP

is returning to power in state, YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has said that YS

Jagan Mohan Reddy

will take oath on June 9 as chief minister. He, however, asked the party

candidates

to be on high alert on the counting day to outsmart the ‘manipulative’ tactics of

TDP

.
He advised the candidates to appoint strong

party activists

as

counting agents

keeping in view of the EC’s recent ‘partisan’ attitude.

Addressing a meeting of counting agents at the party office on Wednesday, Sajjala wanted them to stay alert till the last minute of the counting process and take result declaration without any delay from the returning officer. “Jagan is winning the elections with the support of people and hard work of the candidates.
However, there should not be any casual approach on the day of counting,” he suggested. He recalled that Guntur Lok Sabha candidate in the last elections, Modugula Venugopala Reddy, had lost by a thin margin due to the invalidation of several

postal ballots

during the counting.
He asked the candidates to be alert particularly during the counting of postal ballots as EC had been changing the guidelines to suit the interests of the TDP. He said the party had already lodged a complaint with the EC and is waiting for response. He asked the candidates to send the list of counting agents to the party headquarters with full details by Wednesday.

He asked them to train all the counting agents with the process of counting of votes and ensure that they should be capable of raising their voice if needed. “Counting agents should be as strong as you are. They should be your voice at every table.
They need to be quick in making calculations and also capable of raising voice if needed. They should make the counting officials take them noted,” said Sajjala. He said the candidates should be extra guarded particularly in view of the recent ‘biased’ approach adopted by the EC. He said Naidu has been trying to tweak rules as he realised that it would be difficult for him to win the elections. He said Jagan wants every candidate to win the election and it is possible by staying alert.
