In an interview with The Lallantop, Anup revealed that he took the teaching route when he didn’t get much acting assignments, despite being a NSD graduate. “I am a very restless soul, I don’t like sitting idle. I always feel the need to do something,” he shared.
During his teaching career, he has trained Akshaye Khanna, and many other actors, interestingly for a nominal fee of Rs 300 per class. Anup Soni decided to give up his teaching career, as it wasn’t any way helping his acting career, and it was also time-consuming.
“That’s when I realised that I didn’t want to be a teacher, I wanted to be an actor,” he explained. Slowly the frequency of teaching classes went down. “But after a point I didn’t want to get busy teaching. Kishore Namit Kapoor really liked me, I would charge Rs 300 per class, that he increased to Rs 400 and from once a week, I was taking a class four days a week. But I had to leave it,” he reminisced.
