says that Indian women hosts earned over Rs 2 billion (200 crore) through hosting on the platform in 2023.
Airbnb is an American company operating an online marketplace for short- and long-term homestays and experiences. The company acts as a broker and charges a commission from each booking.
Tuesday's press release said almost 30% of Airbnb hosts in India are women, who collectively earned Rs 200 crore last year. Meanwhile, the domestic destinations most preferred by women travellers in 2023 were Goa, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, Dehradun and Jaipur. Internationally, Indian female guests preferred to visit cities like London, Dubai, Toronto, Paris, New York, Milan, Rome and Bangkok.
Among Indian women travellers, millennials topped the chart on Airbnb last year. And a large segment of female guests preferred to travel solo (30%) or in twos last year. National parks, iconic cities, tropical, private rooms and pools were the most booked categories by Indian women.

The company says the growing community of women hosts and guests play a vital role in the hospitality sector. Echoing this year's Women’s Day theme 'Inspire Inclusion', Airbnb said women leverage the platform to foster economic opportunities, inclusivity and entrepreneurship across India. Hosts not only house travellers but also create job opportunities, particularly in underserved communities.
