During his conversation with

Raj Shamani’s podcast

, Ali Fazal shared that his debut role as Joy Lobo came about while he was performing in a play in Bombay. He received a call from Raju Sir’s office for an audition, he read the part, and Raju Sir watched it.
Fazal vaguely recalled that Raju Sir might have seen one of his plays before and called him based on that.

After the audition, Fazal recorded the song "Give Me Some Sunshine." While on the train, he listened to the song, and within a day or two, Raju Sir confirmed him for the role. That was when Fazal realized the enormity of cinema.
Ali Fazal also opened up about his pre-acting days and one of his most creative odd jobs. He recalled a time when he would buy burgers and resell them without revealing their origin. When asked why people didn’t just buy the burgers directly, Ali explained that he made it convenient by delivering them to people’s homes, describing it as a proper sales job.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ali Fazal is gearing up for the third season of '

Mirzapur

', where he’ll reprise his role as Guddu Pandit. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar and others.
The series is scheduled to premiere on the OTT platform on July 5, 2024.
