CHENNAI: AIADMK on Monday sought intervention of Election Commission to transfer govt officials, who held office for more than two years in existing positions. The party alleged that

In a representation to
chief electoral officer
(CEO), AIADMK legal wing alleged various malpractices by state govt with respect to transfer of officials. The officials are posted within same constituency or in constituencies where some districts were under their purview. It pointed to recent transfer of collector of Tirupathur district to Tiruvannamalai district even as Jolarpettai and Tirupattur assembly constituencies of Tirupathur district fall in Tiruvannamalai Parliamentary constituency.
“DMK govt’s intention is to retain favourable officers in their respective seats even after three years. Special circulars may be issued to state govt for purpose of transferring officials, who hold office for more than two years,” AIADMK said. It accused Coimbatore superintendent of police V Badrinarayanan, who has been in position for close to two years of functioning as DMK functionary.
