AHMEDABAD: Amdavadis endured another punishing day at 40°C on Wednesday as the air hung heavy with humidity, pushing heat stress to its peak. Many citizens reported nausea, headache, and general fatigue.
Even at night, the temperature barely dipped below 30°C, keeping the discomfort going round the clock. But there's good news: thundershowers may offer some respite starting Thursday.At 8.30 am, the relative humidity (RH) stood at 51%, and even by 5.30 pm it was 40%. However, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers for Ahmedabad on Thursday, along with gusty winds blowing at speeds of 50-60 kmph.
The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 40°C.The IMD has also predicted heavy rain for areas including Anand, Narmada, Bharuch, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath. A moderate thunderstorm is likely across a broad swathe of the state, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot and Kutch. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue through May 26.cities, Surendranagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 40.5°C.
