NEW DELHI:

Union minister

Smriti Irani will on Monday begin a four-day visit to her Lok Sabha constituency

Amethi

in Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, her visit coincides with

Rahul Gandhi

's

Bharat Jodo Yatra

entering Amethi on the same day.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections,

Smriti Irani

defeated Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, which was a long-held Congress bastion.

Rahul had represented Amethi in Lok Sabha for 15 years before being unseated in 2019.
The showdown between the two leaders comes after nearly two years. In February 2022, both Irani and Rahul were in Amethi to attend separate events in the run up to the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
This might be the second time since 2022 when the two leaders will be in Amethi at the same time.

During her four-day visit, Smiti will hold interactions with residents of several villages and attend her house-warming ceremony on February 22.
In the run up to the 2019 polls, Smriti had promised the voters that she would build a house in the town and become a resident.
Meanwhile, according to Congress leaders, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will reach Amethi on Monday. Rahul will hold a road show and public meeting in Amethi town.
