, who is currently seen essaying the role of Rajmata Durgavati in the fantasy drama Dhruv Tara - Samay Sadi Se Pare, to play the role of

Kausalya

in the upcoming Bollywood movie Ramayana.
In the screen adaptation of Ramayana,

Ranbir Kapoor

will play Lord Ram while

Sai Pallavi

will be seen as Sita. KGF star

Yash

will reportedly feature in the movie as Ravan.

Ramayana is expected to be announced next month, with the release date targeting Diwali 2025.
A source close to the film told ETimes TV, "The makers have casted veteran actress Indira Krishnan to play the role of Kausalya, who was the biological mother of Lord Rama. The actress was also last seen in action-thriller film Animal, which also featured Ranbir. In that movie she played Rashmika Mandanna's mother and shared a great report with the starcast. People loved her professionalism and appropriated her acting and kind behaviour. It was Ranbir, who suggested her for the role."
However, Indira remained unavailable to comment. Indira also shared a post on her Instagram handle with Ranbir Kapoor and captioned, "Ahaaaa look whose here.....RK my all time. She has featured in TV shows like Saavi Ki Savaari, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Krishnaben Khakhrawala and has been part of films like Hey Bro, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Tathastu. She earned immense popularity after sharing screen space with Salman Khan in Tere Naam.
