Actress Tamannaah Bhatia summoned in illegal IPL streaming case, says Maharashtra Police

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber crime cell in a case involving the illegal promotion of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on a betting app. The actress has been asked to appear before the cyber cell on Monday, April 29.

Sanjay Shintre, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, said, "We had earlier sent the summons to the actress via email, but she was unable to receive it. We have now sent the summons to her address and asked her to appear on April 29 as a witness."


Actor Sanjay Dutt’s name also emerged in connection with the same case. Dutt was summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on April 23 but he had not appeared before them. Shintre added, "We have received a request from the actor to extend the date. However, we haven't confirmed the next date for him yet."

According to news reports, the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on the App caused a loss of crores of rupees to the official channel broadcasting the tournament.
