The leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest outside a police station in Delhi seeking punishment for the accused in a sexual assault case of a minor.
The protest was led by AAP's East Delhi Lok Sabha candidate and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar Monu, who submitted petitions to police officers, demanding justice for a four-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by her tuition teacher's brother.
The girl had told her parents that her tuition teacher's brother had sexually assaulted her when the teacher was not there, following which they had lodged a police complaint.
The AAP workers hit out at Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Delhi Police on the law and order situation in the capital.
Speaking to India Today TV, Kuldeep Kumar said, "We are here to demand justice for the minor victim of rape, this case should be shifted to a fast track court.”
The AAP leader also said that the accused should be punished in a way, which should "set an example" for others.
"Since VK Saxena has become the Lieutenant Governor, the law and order situation is deteriorating in Delhi,” he added.
The AAP leader accused Saxena of targeting his political party by posting pictures of garbage lying on streets on social media and said that he should visit the police stations in Delhi and take a look "at the situation on the ground".
“If the girl does not get justice, we will protest outside the Lieutenant Governor's residence,” he said.
