After returning from his workplace to his birthplace, Satpal Brahmchari, 55, secured the Sonipat Lok Sabha seat for Congress again since 2005. He won by a margin of 21,816 votes. The contest was highly competitive with frequent fluctuations in the lead. However, in the final round, Brahmchari emerged victorious by 21,816 votes, defeating RSS pick and BJP leader Mohan Lal Badoli.
