Chelsea “love” Nico Williams and have made contact to understand how much a potential deal would cost according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are once again set for a busy summer and could look to sell as many as seven or eight players to fund their business.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Whilst a striker is the main priority Chelsea are also looking to bring a winger in, and there’s set to be movement in the wides areas.

The Blues are yet to take a final decision on whether they will keep Jadon Sancho, whilst Noni Madueke is attracting interest.

Estevao Willian will arrive after the Club World Cup, and the Blues are still waiting for an update on Mykhailo Mudryk’s situation following a positive doping test.

Chelsea are admirers of Williams who’s previously been described as a “dream” target, and Romano has now provided a further update on the Spaniard.

“Chelsea and Arsenal love Nico Williams and have made contacts to understand how much the whole package will be,” he told his YouTube channel.

“In recent years, it has been very expensive. €50m clause, taxes, salary and commissions.”

It’s been reported Williams would want £400,000 per week if he made the switch to the Premier League, which would clearly be out of reach.

The 22-year-old has a release clause of €58m, making him affordable for the top clubs, and the Spain international has 11 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions this season.

Gittens also a target

Whilst a deal for Williams may not be viewed as financially viable, the Blues also have Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens on their list.

The 20-year-old is likely to leave Dortmund this summer, and it’s believed Chelsea are in pole position to land the winger.

It’s been reported Chelsea would be prepared to offer a deal which would see Gittens double his current salary, with the England under-21 international believed to be keen on a return to the Premier League.

Whoever Chelsea end up signing it’s vital they bring someone in who’s a proven quantity and improves the first team.
