6 die in mishap involving car, 2 trucks

on National Highway 520 near Rimuli, under the jurisdiction of Champua police station, claimed the lives of six persons of a family on Wednesday night around 9 pm.
Police said the

car

was heading towards Keonjhar when the driver abruptly lost control and collided with an iron-loaded truck from behind. Following the collision, the truck fled the scene.

Moments later, another speeding truck approaching from behind crashed into the car.
The severity of the accident required the police and fire brigade team to spend hours recovering the bodies from the car using a cutter machine. The bodies were subsequently transported to Champua Sub Divisional hospital for post-mortem.
Police said Heralal Palei (58) and his family members were returning from Taramakanta under Banspal block in Keonjhar district to their native place in Barbil, also in Keonjhar district after attending a marriage party. All of them died on the spot.

Among the deceased were four women and two men, including the driver of the car. Upon receiving the information, the police team, along with the fire brigade, arrived at the scene and carried out the rescue operation. The police later seized the second truck that had hit the car from behind.
