5.3 earthquake hits Chamba region in Himachal Pradesh

NEW DELHI: A 5.3 magnitude

earthquake

on Thursday hit the

Chamba

district of Himachal Pradesh. Strong tremors were felt across the town and also in Manali, which is over 350 km from the town of Chamba.
The quake struck around 9.30 pm as confirmed by the National Center for Seismology.
"Earthquake of Magnitude:5.3, Occurred on 04-04-2024, 21:34:32 IST, Lat: 33.09 & Long: 76.59, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India," the

said on X.

However, there is no loss so far as the tremors were felt in non-populated areas.

Nearly hundred and twetnty years ago on April 4, 1905, a devastating earthquake killed thousands of people.
On April 1, smaller intensity earthquakes were recorded in Himachal Pradesh's Chamoli and Lahaul and Spiti.
