COIMBATORE: An unidentified person broke open a house in Sukkaramanigoundenpudur village in Coimbatore district and escaped with
42 sovereigns
of gold ornaments. The burglary happened in the house of Duraisamy, 73, a retired assistant director of the postal department. Duraisamy, his wife Rajamani, 65, and thier daughter Gokila Ram, 35, went to their farmhouse at Ellapalayam on Thursday (Feb 15) after locking their house. They returned home on Saturday and found the front door lock of the house broken open. A total of 42 sovereigns of gold ornaments were missing from the house Annur police registered a case and began investigations. Duraisamy had switched off CCTV before going to the farmhouse.
