RAIPUR: A 20-year-old
woman
was gangraped by six youngsters, three of them minors, in Jashpur district late Monday night. All the accused were arrested within hours.
The survivor told police that she had gone to meet her
boyfriend
, unaware that he had set a trap with his friends to
gang-rape
her.
The incident happened in a village around 30km from Jashpur district headquarters.
According to the complaint, the survivor had gone to another state to work two years ago and returned last Saturday.
She went to meet her boyfriend on Sunday and stayed with him till Monday after which they each left for work. The boyfriend stayed connected with the woman over phone the whole day and called her near a dam in the evening for an outing.
When she arrived, she was surprised to see five of his friends there. After a while, the boyfriend excused himself and the friends pounced on her.

They dragged her to fields, pushed her into a ditch, beat her up and took turns to rape her. A 17-year-old among them took a video of the gang-rape. They left her nearly unconscious and fled. In shock, she tried calling her boyfriend but he didn't respond, after which she realised it was a vicious plan to gang-rape her, say police. She went to police and an FIR was filed. Jashpur SP Shashimohan Singh said a special team was formed and within 2 hours, accused were held.
