15 fall ill after inhaling toxic gas in prawn processing unit

BALASORE:In Balasore district of

Odisha

, a minimum of 15 individuals suffered adverse health effects due to exposure to noxious fumes emanating from a seafood processing facility in the vicinity of Nilagiri.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening when several employees, primarily female workers involved in processing activities, reported symptoms including "vomiting, nausea and difficulty in breathing."
The affected individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital in Nilagiri by their colleagues.

Following medical treatment, the patients were subsequently released, as confirmed by sources within the healthcare facility.
Despite the incident, local law enforcement authorities at Khantapada police station, which holds jurisdiction over the processing plant, stated that no formal complaint had been filed at the station concerning the matter.
