1 killed, 12 hurt in Gangotri highway landslide

landslide

hit several vehicles on

Gangotri highway

near Dabrani area in

Uttarkashi

around noon on Friday, killing one person and injuring 12 others .
One person is still missing. The landslide, possibly triggered by a

forest fire

, disrupted

traffic

and led to a rescue operation. Traffic on Gangotri highway was halted due to continuous rockfalls but was restored in the evening.
While the body of 18-year-old

Ankit Singh Panwar

from Sainj village, Uttarkashi, was recovered, search for Kamla Devi, a labourer from BRO, continued till late evening.
Teams from National Disaster Response Force (

NDRF

), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, disaster management, and the health department reached the scene and rescued 12 injured people, mostly pilgrims and BRO labourers.
